From time to time, we review the range of devices you can watch your movies and TV shows on. Unfortunately, this sometimes means we need to remove devices that are no longer as popular as they were before. On the 11th April 2016, we're removing support for Toshiba TVs and, on the 4th April 2016, for the Sony Playstation 3 on TalkTalk TV Store.
This means you’ll no longer be able to enjoy your TalkTalk TV Store purchases on these devices, but you’ll still be able to use them until the dates above and after that, you can keep watching your purchases on any of our other supported devices.
We know this might be disappointing, but the good news is we support a wide variety of options to view your purchase, including the Google Chromecast which lets you stream your movies to any TV with a HDMI port from your iPhone, iPad, Android phone or Android tablet and your PC or Mac.
On this page, we're providing as much information as possible about what this change means to you, why this change is happening, and your options going forwards.
Why are you switching off these devices?
From time to time, we review the range of devices you can watch your movies and TV shows on. Unfortunately, this means that sometimes we need to remove devices that are no longer as popular as they were before.
We've had to remove support for Toshiba TVs and the Sony Playstation 3 so we can focus on more popular devices - like phones, tablets and the Google Chromecast. We'll also be adding more ways to enjoy TalkTalk TV Store - like on TalkTalk YouView boxes - in the near future.
How can I continue watching on my TV?
The easiest way to continue accessing your movies and TV shows on your smart TV is to purchase a Google Chromecast. This nifty streaming stick plugs into any HDMI port on your TV and connects to your Wi-Fi. You can then use any of our Chromecast compatible devices as a remote to pick and playback any of your content.
Chromecast is compatible with our apps for:
- Apple iPad
- Apple iPhone
- Android tablets
- Android phones
- Windows and Mac PCs with Google Chrome and the Cast plugin
By switching to Google Chromecast, you’ll have access to more TalkTalk TV Store features, like viewing your content in up to HD on your TV. Even better, Google Chromecast also works with a wide variety of other streaming services, like BBC iPlayer, YouTube and Netflix.
You might also be able to connect your PC to the TV using a special cable. There should be more information in the manuals for your television and computer. We also support Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Can I have a refund for previously purchased content?
We’re removing support for these devices in line with our terms and conditions, that allow us to change our supported devices from time to time, always giving you reasonable notice.
We hope the information on this page explains what the change means to you, and we’ll also send you an email about a month before support is removed from your device as a reminder. We’ve invested in ensuring that alternative options, like Google Chromecast, are easy to use and widely available to minimise the impact of this change on you. You can also continue to watch existing purchased content on all of our supported devices.
However, we won’t be able to consider requests for refunds on the basis of this change.
