2011 LG Blu-ray players are no longer supported
Microsoft are switching off WMDRM, the technology we used to provide our legacy apps on some devices, so on the 14th July 2015, you won't be able to use 2011 LG devices anymore. There's more information in our Windows Media DRM switch off hub.
Got a 2012+ LG Blu-ray player with smart functionality? With the blinkbox app, you’ll be able to enjoy your favourite movies and TV shows on your TV.
If you're considering buying a new Blu-ray player, you should check with the retailer that the blinkbox app is available before purchase. HD is only available on 2013+ devices.
How do I get started?
- To use the blinkbox app, you’ll need to be connected to Wi-Fi and have the latest firmware. To check you’ve got the latest firmware, look at our firmware upgrade instructions.
- When you open the app, you won’t be logged in, so press thebutton on your remote and follow the on-screen steps. You’ll just need to enter your email address and password, then submit. If you’d like to sign up you’ll need to use a web browser.
- Once you’re signed in, you’ll be taken back to the main page.
How do I find and purchase movies and TV shows?
We’ve made it really easy to find your favourite movies and TV on our app. We’ll show you some of our latest and greatest stuff right on the main page, but you can also browse or search for anything in our library.
Tap thebutton, and a keyboard will appear. Just start typing what you’re looking for (you can search by title, actor or – if you’re channelling your inner film buff - director). We’ll show you results as you’re typing, and you can leave the keyboard and start browsing through them whenever you’d like.
Once you’ve found something you fancy, just select it and pick a purchase option – like renting or buying. If your blu-ray player is up to scratch, and you’ve got at least a 5mbps broadband connection, you might also want to go for HD. You’ll be taken to a confirmation screen where you can use a saved card or add a new one, and add a voucher if you’ve got one.
You can use the drop down menus at the top of the main screen to help you browse our library, choosing between featured and popular content, genres that interest you and TV shows or movies. Just use the directional buttons on your remote to navigate the menus.

How do I watch movies and TV?
It’s really easy to start watching content you’ve bought. From the main screen, simply pick the account icon (it’s the head and shoulders icon in the top right corner of the screen), or press thebutton and we’ll take you to ‘My blinkbox’. Here, you’ll see ‘My movies’ and ‘My TV shows’.
Just select a movie to watch – you’ll be taken straight to a page with all the details where you can press the play button to start watching.
For TV shows, we’ll take you to a page with all of the episodes from the series. The label next to the episode title lets you identify the ones you already own.
Where’s my watch later list?
From the main screen, just choose the account icon (it’s the head and shoulders icon in the top right corner of the screen), or press thebutton and we’ll take you to ‘My blinkbox’. Just scroll to the right, and you’ll be able to see your ‘Saved movies’ and ‘Saved TV shows’ sections, which is where you’ll find your watch later list.

You can add new items to the watch later list from the movie or TV shows page within the app. Just make sure you’re logged in and tap the ‘Watch later’ button on the left hand side of the screen. It’s as easy as that.
